Our Instructors

Angie Buchanan: Is the Founder and Director of Earth Traditions, and of Gaia's Womb, an interfaith spirituality group that has been producing women's spiritual retreats for over 10 years. In 2002 she was elected to the Bo ard of Trustees of The Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions and held the Office of Secretary on the Executive Committee, 2007-2009. In addition to CPWR, Angie has been involved with a number of organizations that encourage interfaith dialog and promote peace among the world’s religions, including, the Lady Liberty League, for which she served as the Public Relations Director for 10 years, Women For International Peace & Arbitration, and the Our Freedom Coalition. Angie was the instructor for "Introduction to Interfaith" at Cherry Hill Seminary for four years. She has been a religious freedom activist and an advocate for the protection and safeguarding of First Amendment since the 1970's. She was instrumental in securing the pentacle symbol for use as a religious symbol on the headstones and grave markers of deceased Pagan veterans. Angie can be reached at Angie@EarthTraditions.org.


Stacey Enslow: is a PhD candidate with the Anthropology Department at Purdue University. He has presented papers on topics involving spirituality, environmentalism, and other subjects at venues throughout North America. He has contributed entries in the Encyclopedia of Psychology and Religion (Springer , 2010), and is currently writing his dissertation based on a year of field work in an international Yoga and environmentalist commune in South India. Stacey has been a presenter and facilitator at various Pagan community events since 1992. He also teaches workshops in mead-making, runic lore, storytelling and pan-cultural mythologies. Keith Green, PhD: has a Ph.D. in History and teaches courses in world religions, comparative mythology, and history of the Western magical tradition, as well as classes in ancient, modern, and L.G.B.T. history at the Illinois Institute of Technology and Columbia College in Chicago. He is a member of the Inner Order of the Brotherhood of the Phoenix and cofounder of the performance troupe Terra Mysterium. Rev. Kimberley Long-Ewing, PhD: is a shamanic practitioner and was ordained by Circle Sanctuary, an organization dedicated to nature spirituality. Kimberley received her PhD in Psychology from the University of New Mexico where she studied cognition, research methodology, and development. She has taught a variety of courses as adjunct faculty for several colleges and universities, including Murray State University and University of Wisconsin Colleges. Kimberley is the current Preceptor General for Officers of Avalon, a non-profit organization for Pagan emergency first responders around the world and is also President of Spirit Lake Wellness, Inc., a non-profit organization providing education about integrative medicine and wellness to professional and the general public. Valya Dudycz Lupescu: is the founding editor of Conclave: A Journal of Character. She holds an MFA in Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has taught Composition and Rhetoric, as well as Creative Writing, at several Chicago-area universities, including DePaul University, Loyola University, and Columbia College. Valya has also worked in the corporate world as a managing editor and internal communications specialist, and she was one of the producers for the independent feature film, The Secret. Prior to receiving her MFA, Valya spent several years consulting as a political/public relations writer. She has been a part of the Gaia’s Womb community for the last seven years and attended the 2004 Parliament of the World’s Religions in Barcelona. Valya is a member of Chicago Women in Publishing, Chicago Writers Association, Friends of Lulu, Associated Writing Programs, and the International Society for the Study of Religion, Nature, and Culture. Drake Spaeth: Drake Spaeth, PsyD is the Co-Founder of Earth Traditions. He is a Clinical Psychologist, and a faculty member of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He is the author of several entries in the Encyclopedia of Psychology and Religion (Springer , 2010), as well as contributing a chapter (Psycho-spiritual roots of adolescent violence; The importance of rites of passage) in the book, Transforming Corrections; Humanistic Approaches to Corrections and Offender Treatment. ( Carolina Academic Press, 2009). Dr. Spaeth has been a presenter at the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions events in Barcelona , 2004 and Melbourne , 2009 and he regularly presents papers on spirituality and psychology at conferences including the annual meetings of the Midwest American Academy of Religion, and the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion. He has been a staff member, presenter, and ritual facilitator at the annual Pagan Spirit Gathering for the past 16 years. His interests include the relationship between spirituality and psychology, ecopsychology, Humanistic-Existential psychology, transpersonal psychology, Jungian psychology, shamanism, Celtic mysticism, and the Western Mystery Tradition.
