Spiritual counseling is not psychotherapy or psychological counseling, but rather reflective listening and dialog that focuses on the use of a person's spirituality to help with problem solving. Many people will seek out the guidance of a spiritual counselor when they need help solving problems in their lives, and would like to explore options based on their spiritual beliefs, often in tandem with a licensed mental health professional. A spiritual counselor can use various modalities and healing tools to support their clients' journeys. Spiritual counseling goes beyond traditional forms of psychotherapy by tapping into the importance of religion or spirituality of an individual’s life. You do not need to be religious to benefit from spiritual counseling. This form of counseling is available to anyone, even those who do not identify as religious. It’s also possible to consult with a spiritual counselor who has religious beliefs that differ from your own.
