Celebrating Jólabókaflóð, or Holiday Book Flood. A fairly recent but much beloved Icelandic tradition where people exchange books as gifts on Christmas/Solstice Eve and then spend the evening reading them together, often with hot chocolate and sweet treats. Originating in World War II when paper was more readily available than other goods, the tradition has grown into a central cultural event.
Please bring a gift wrapped book for our Jólabókaflóð book exchange. It can be gently used. Enclose a card or a note, telling the recipient why you think they might enjoy that book - and sign it, so they can come find you. If you would like to bring an extra wrapped book for a child, we will be collecting them for victims of domestic violence at the Waukesha Womens Center, which serves all of south east Wisconsin..
The cost is $45.00 per person - Dinner and all activities are included. Lunch is not provided so bring a snack or something to tide you over. You may also bring wine, and/or a dessert to share after dinner. (Your chance to show off your skills!) Children under 5 years old are free. Reservations are accepted on a first come first served basis.
There are no refunds.
